6 Things We Learned About the Landscaping Industry at Equip Exposition 2026

We went to Louisville, Kentucky, for Equip Exposition 2026 with a simple goal: meet the people who make the landscaping and lawn care industry run.

With more than 30,000 industry professionals and over 1,100 exhibits, Equip Exposition is one of the largest gatherings of landscaping and outdoor power equipment professionals in the country. And after experiencing it firsthand, we understand why.

We came home with new connections, fresh ideas, sore feet, and an even greater appreciation for the community we serve.

As most of us were first-time attendees, we weren't entirely sure what to expect. But after several days of conversations with landscaping business owners, lawn care professionals, equipment manufacturers, and fellow entrepreneurs, a few things really stood out.

Here are our six biggest takeaways.

1. The Story Behind Jeero Resonates With Landscaping Business Owners

One of the most interesting things we discovered was how much people connected with why we started Jeero.

One of our co-founders, Calvin, runs a lawn care business himself. Like many small business owners, he struggled to find software that actually fit the way he worked.

Some platforms were built with large companies in mind, with price tags to match. Others were packed with features he didn't need, making simple tasks more complicated than they should be.

He wasn't looking for a hundred bells and whistles. He wanted something simple, reliable, and affordable that would help him run his business without getting in the way.

We knew there had to be a better way. So we created Jeero.

We turned his experience into a practical, easy-to-use platform for service businesses. Today, Jeero helps owners manage their schedules, customers, crews, estimates, invoices, payments, and more in one place.

When we shared that story with landscaping and lawn care business owners at Equip, people understood it immediately. We heard familiar frustrations from owners who just want to run their businesses without spending hours navigating complicated software.

It reinforced something we've believed from the beginning: small landscaping businesses deserve tools built around how they actually work.

2. There's Room for Everyone to Win in Landscaping

If there's one thing that surprised us most about Equip, it was the camaraderie throughout the landscaping industry.

You might expect an event filled with competing landscaping companies, equipment manufacturers, and vendors to feel pretty competitive. And sure, everyone wants to grow their business.

But what we witnessed was something different.

Landscaping business owners shared advice. Experienced professionals encouraged newcomers. Competitors talked shop, exchanged ideas, and genuinely seemed to want one another to succeed.

We saw mentorship happening naturally, sometimes between people who had only just met.

There's a real sense of brotherhood and community in this industry. People understand the early mornings, long days, unpredictable weather, equipment challenges, and pride that comes from building a business of their own.

Success doesn't have to come at someone else's expense. There's room for everyone to build something great, and it's pretty incredible to be part of an industry that recognizes that.

3. Pen and Paper Are Still Going Strong in Lawn Care

For all the technology available today, we met a surprising number of landscaping and lawn care business owners who are still running parts of their operations with pen and paper.

Handwritten schedules. Paper estimates. Notebooks full of customer information.

And here's the thing: if it works for them, we get it.

When you're spending your days maintaining properties, managing crews, handling equipment, and keeping customers happy, learning a new software platform isn't always at the top of your priority list.

But as a landscaping business grows, those manual processes can become harder to manage. A missed mowing appointment, forgotten invoice, or misplaced customer note can quickly turn into lost time or revenue.

This is one of the reasons we made simplicity a priority with Jeero. Business owners shouldn't need weeks of training or a dedicated office manager just to get organized.

Our conversations at Equip reinforced that there's still a real need for straightforward, affordable landscaping software that helps owners spend less time on administrative work and more time running their businesses.

4. Landscaping Entrepreneurs Are Starting Younger Than Ever

One of our favorite surprises? The age range of the landscaping business owners we met.

We talked with seasoned lawn care professionals who have spent decades building their companies, alongside young entrepreneurs who are just getting started.

And when we say young, we mean young.

We met multiple 14-year-olds who already own landscaping businesses!

At an age when most kids are thinking about school, sports, and video games, these young entrepreneurs are out mowing lawns, finding customers, maintaining properties, and learning what it takes to run a business.

It was genuinely impressive.

Landscaping offers a relatively accessible path to entrepreneurship. With the right equipment, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to knock on a few doors, someone can start building a business at a remarkably young age.

The ambition and entrepreneurial spirit we saw across generations were inspiring. Whether someone is 14 or 64, the drive to build something of their own is alive and well in the landscaping industry.

5. Never Underestimate the Power of Good Swag

We learned something else pretty quickly: Equip attendees LOVE their swag!

Hats, bags, shirts, stickers, you name it.

People showed up ready to explore the latest mowers, landscaping equipment, and outdoor power tools, connect with vendors, and apparently leave with enough branded merchandise to fill a second suitcase.

And honestly? We respect it.

There's something fun about the energy around a great giveaway, and it's a reminder that landscaping trade shows like Equip aren't just about equipment and sales pitches. They're about creating memorable experiences and connections.

We definitely picked up a few ideas for next year.

6. Next Year, We're Getting a Booth

If there's one thing we'd do differently, it's this.

We need a booth.

We attended this year without one, which gave us the freedom to walk the show, meet landscaping professionals, and experience Equip from the attendee side.

That turned out to be incredibly valuable.

But we also realized how much more we could do with a dedicated space where lawn care and landscaping business owners could stop by, see Jeero in action, ask questions, and share their feedback.

There's nothing quite like showing someone a working product and hearing firsthand how it could fit into their daily operations.

We're already hoping to get an early start on securing a spot for Equip 2027.

And yes, after what we learned this year, we'll definitely be thinking about the SWAG.

We're Leaving Louisville Inspired by the Landscaping Community

More than anything, Equip Exposition reminded us why we created Jeero.

The landscaping and lawn care industry is full of hardworking people, ambitious entrepreneurs, and business owners who take real pride in what they do.

We met people who are just starting their first mowing routes, people who have spent their lives building successful landscaping companies, and plenty who are somewhere in between.

Their businesses may look different, but many of their challenges are the same: finding enough hours in the day, keeping crews organized, managing recurring jobs, keeping customers happy, and making sure the business runs smoothly.

These are exactly the challenges Jeero was designed to solve.

We've already put a lot of thought and work into making everyday business management simpler, and the conversations we had at Equip confirmed that we're addressing real frustrations in the industry.

Of course, there's always room to improve. Hearing directly from landscaping professionals gives us valuable perspective on which features matter most and where we can make the experience even better.

To everyone who took a few minutes to talk with us, share your story, offer advice, or tell us what you wish your landscaping management software could do: thank you.

We're bringing those conversations home and using what we learned to keep making Jeero better.

And to everyone we didn't get to meet this year, we hope to see you at Equip 2027!

Built for service pros. By service pros.
